Writing Retreat with Pamela Des Barres *create the myth that is you*

January 29, 2011
Saturday, March 26 at 11:00am – March 28 at 11:00am

Location Downieville, California

More Info Will you heed the call of a woman beckoning to you, arm outstretched, with an invitation of joining her on a writing retreat in the forest*?

The wisdom that will guide us as we begin the journey of writing our own memoirs will be none other than Ms. Pamela Des Barres … she who was often photographed draped on the arms of Mick, Keith & Jimmy … the venerable ’60’s icon and author of “I’m With the Band”, “Let’s Spend the Night T…ogether” and “Take Another Little Piece of My Heart”, as well as writer for Cosmopolitan, Rolling Stone, Playboy, etc.

And what’s required of you? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. This is the weekend that you will just ‘be’. ‘Be’ as you embark on the journey of putting pen to paper and writing your own history as you lived it. Just ‘be’ … that’s all.

The place chosen is found nestled in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada in the nearly forgotten goldmining town called Downieville.

Beautiful cabins are found along the wild Yuba river and this is where we will call home for two evenings as we write, by moonlight & firelight, our memoirs.

Everything is thought out to create our two mystical nights of writing our own myths and recognizing the woman of who we are in our lives … and celebrating the goddess of who we are in others.

The cost is $260 for the entire weekend.
You can expect:

*A fully appointed cabin (rate based on 4 women/per)
*Cabins stocked with breakfast foods, cheese, crackers, 2 bottles of wine
*Two evening writing workshops with Ms. Pamela Des Barres (wine and hors d’ouevres included)
*Notebooks and writing utensils
*Weather & docent permitting, a guided tour through Downieville on Sunday afternoon.

Sat. March 26th … Depart Sacramento at 11:00am and arrive in Downieville by 1:00pm.
Free time until 1st workshop at 7:30 pm (we can all go to dinner together)

Sun. March 27 … Guided tour in afternoon (providing we have a docent). Free time until 2nd workshop at 7:30 pm (we can all enjoy dinner together)

Let’s Spend The Night Together:
Confessions of Rock’s Greatest Groupies

(premiere party, w/ live panel of special guests!)

Co-presented by VH1 and Don’t Knock The Rock

Take an emotional journey back to the early Seventies, the Golden Age of Groupies! Some were in it for love, some for the music, and some for their art — and four decades later, these passionate women share their stories of sexual conquest and bitter heartbreak, and finally reveal whether it was all worth it. Told through the eyes of rock and roll historian and super groupie Pamela Des Barres (author of the famous 1987 tell-all “I’m With The Band”, and the brand-new book “Let’s Spend The Night Together”) this ninety-minute documentary offers memories of her sexual exploits and longtime escapades with such notorious rockers as Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison and Jimmy Page — and chronicles her cross-country journey to reconnect with the iconic women who loved and inspired the great rock stars of our time. Join moderator Michael Des Barres as he Q&As (schedule permitting) with Pamela Des Barres, Lori Mattix, Cassandra Peterson (“Elvira”!), Michele Overman, Catherine James and the film’s director Jenna Rosher on the Cinefamily stage after the film — and stick around for a reception on our Spanish patio after the show!
